Muizenberg is situated about 25 km south of Cape Town and can be reached by car in 20 minutes. Muizenberg lies directly on the "Simon's Town - Cape Town" railroad line. Towards the end of the 19th century, Muizenberg developed into an upmarket beach resort with hotels that were used as weekend residences by particularly wealthy diamond barons and the upper classes of Cape Town. Some of them, such as Cecil Rhodes, also built their own Victorian-style houses near the water. Around 1900, Muizenberg enjoyed a sophisticated reputation that also attracted the artistic bohemians.
32 kilometers of unspoiled sea and surf The main attraction is undoubtedly the white sandy beach with the largest collection of colourful wooden bathing huts, which are often referred to as "Edwardian Beach Houses". Painted in bright colors, they adorn many Cape Town photos. They are rented out seasonally and are used as changing rooms and for storing surfboards, which are popular on this (safe) coast. The beach slopes very gently, has firm sand and the moderate swell is ideal for small children. Below the raised promenade at the pavilion you will find changing rooms, toilets and showers. There are landscaped gardens, a water slide, children's playgrounds and mini-golf facilities.
