The districts of Three Anchor Bay and Sea Point merged some time ago, with Sea Point being by far the larger and better known. During the apartheid era, Sea Point was considered the most densely populated white district in South Africa. The white middle class wanted to live close to the city center without coming into contact with townships.
Angular apartment blocks from the 1960s and 1970s dominate the scene, interspersed with the occasional Victorian relic. The buildings on the waterfront have been given a facelift. Of course, Sea Point also has a beach, but this is only suitable for afternoon sunbathing, as it is unfortunately not possible to swim there due to the current and the rocks. Exception: the tidal pool opposite Worcester Rd.
An afternoon stroll along the Sea Point Promenade (Beach Rd.) is an extremely relaxing experience. The wind really blows around your nose here. Children have fun in the playgrounds, green spaces become picnic tables for families and joggers race the seabirds. The most beautiful section is near the Winchester Mansion Hotel between Rocklands Rd. and Marais Rd.
